Free UK Credit Score and Credit Report Providers Compared

You can check the information held by the main UK Credit Reference Agencies (CRAs) without paying a monthly subscription. The key is knowing which service uses which agency, what is included for free and whether you need an app or a statutory report.

Offers, pricing and included features can change. Confirm the current terms on each provider’s own website before registering. The government-backed MoneyHelper guide is a useful independent starting point.

Which report is the most accurate?

No agency is automatically β€œthe accurate one”. They may receive information from different lenders and on different schedules. Check all three when preparing for a mortgage, investigating a refusal, dealing with identity fraud or correcting historic debt information.

Are paid alerts worth it?

Paid monitoring may be convenient, but most people can check the core records for free. Read cancellation terms and avoid paying solely for generic tips or credit offers. An eligibility percentage is not a guarantee of acceptance.

What to compare

  • Which Credit Reference Agency (CRA) supplies the data
  • Whether the full report or only a score is included
  • How frequently information refreshes
  • Whether access requires a mobile app
  • Trial length, renewal cost and cancellation process
  • Download and dispute facilities
  • How personalised offers are funded
